CHIA SEEDS

are high in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. More Omega-3's per gram than salmon. They are also very high in fiber, which makes them good for weight loss. Chia seeds are high in protein and several important minerals. We add 1 tablespoon of chia seeds to several of our Wolfpacks. They can control your blood sugar levels, prevent blood clots, reduce high blood pressure, reduce inflammation, improve your digestion, and give you more energy.

GOJI BERRIES

also known as wolfberries, are tasty red berries that are an excellent choice for any fruit-based smoothie you concoct. They are native to Asia and have been used there for thousands of years. The people of China, India, and Nepal have long realized that these berries are special. They are packed with protein, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Goji berries are an excellent plant-based source of protein, and are perfect for vegetarians and vegans. They can help protect you from heart disease and improve your eye health. Goji berries have some interesting compounds not found in many other foods. A class of oils called sesquiterpinoids that is found in goji berries boost the production of human growth hormone, which has anti-aging effects. Other components of the fruit can improve the functioning of your immune system and even help patients with serious autoimmune disorders. Goji berries taste great in any smoothie.

FLAX SEEDS

come from the Flax plant, which have been cultivated in many different forms for thousands of years. Although believed to have originated in Egypt, flax has been cultivated around the world, including Europe, South America, Asia, and parts of the United States. High in omega-3, alpha-linolenic acid, and fiber, flaxseeds are known to prevent and treat many diseases, such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis. Due to its estrogen-like effects, some women use flaxseed oil to treat the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome, and help control menopausal symptoms.

CACAO

is the seed of the cacao tree, which grows in Central and South America. They are often called beans and are the flavor behind everything chocolate. Most chocolate products do not count as superfoods because the processing has eliminated much of the nutrition. If, however, you get raw cacao, you have a minimally processed food that is packed with nutrition. Raw cacao contains flavonoids, a type of antioxidant that can improve your health in a number of ways. Cacao has been shown to increase blood flow, lower bad cholesterol levels while raising levels of the good type, lower blood pressure, regulate blood sugar, and improve brain function, vision, and mood. Add raw cacao to any smoothie!

HEMP HEARTS

come from the cannabis plant, which is also the origin of marijuana. Plants that are used for hemp products contain little or none of the psychoactive compound THC. Hemp seeds contain omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, which are good for combating heart disease. They also contain “super” fatty acids called gamma-linoleic acid and stearidonic acid. These fats are good for your skin, help to increase your metabolism, lower cholesterol in your bloodstream, and decrease inflammation. Hemp seeds are also high in protein and fiber. They have been shown to improve immune system functioning, improve brain health, and regulate blood sugar. With a mild, nutty flavor, you can add some to any smoothie.

SCHISANDRA

has been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years. In Mandarin, it is called wu wei zi, which translates to "five-flavored berry" because it is sweet, sour, bitter, salty, and hot. Schisandra aids almost all the vital organs including lungs, kidneys, heart, liver, and spleen. It is high in vitamin A, vitamin E, and C. Schisanda is high in antioxidants that positively affect the skin, muscles, blood vessels, the biosynthesis of inflammatory compounds, and the release of fatty acids into the bloodstream. This improves circulation, and builds healthy blood vessels, arteries, and blood cells. Schisandra also helps relieve stress and improves mental clarity and performance. BEE POLLEN

is a potent superfood.  Bee pollen is a good source of protein, vitamins, and minerals. It has been used to treat asthma, indigestion, anemia, acne, arthritis, and fatigue. Like honey, bee pollen may help with allergies. Not only does bee pollen enhance your energy, but it also is an immune system booster and helps the digestive system. Bee pollen is easy to add to smoothies, as it provides a natural sweetness that enhances any other flavor.

MACA

is a root that grows in the Andes Mountains of Peru. Vitamin packed, Maca includes 55 phyto-chemicals, including vitamins B1, B2, B12, vitamin C, and zinc. It has amino acids, calcium and phosphorus as well. Maca has been shown to increase not only the male sex drive, but the production of sperm as well. Maca increases fertility in both men and women.

These actions, along with the natural Vitamin C and zinc, are believed to help aid in overall immunity.

One of the main reasons the native Peruvians used maca was to enhance virility, energy and mood. In addition to these positive effects, maca is rich in protein and B vitamins, which makes it a great supplement for vegans and vegetarians.

RHODIOLA

also known as the Golden Root, is a great healing plant. It helps regulate your immune system and helps you adapt to stress and adjust your mental habits. Rhodiola has a calming effect on the body and mental state, and helps concentration, memory and mood. Not only does Rhodiola benefit mental health, but it also helps burn belly fat, aids athletic performance, and increases energy.

ACAI

is harvested from palm trees found around the Amazon River basin of South America. The Amazonian tribes found out that it helps the immune system, fights infection, and protects the heart. With high levels of antioxidant activity, acai berries are low in sugar, but contain very high amounts of iron, calcium, fiber, and vitamin A. Although acai has been used for thousands of years, it was not introduced to the western world until the 1990s.

FO-TI ROOT

also called He Shou Wu, is one of the most important traditional Chinese longevity herbs.
